The Seattle Seahawks improved their preseason record to 2-0 with a convincing but somber 20-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings Friday night at CenturyLink Field. Here are five takeaways from the game.
1. Russell Wilson is ready for prime time. Wilsons Friday night performance was just south of spectacular, the slim and trim quarterback threw for two touchdowns and completed 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards while playing just one-half of football. In the Seahawks first game against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday, Wilson completed three of four passes for 41 yards and finished that game with a 107-passer rating after playing just one series of football.

2. The offensive backfield has more questions than answers. Former Green Bay Packer and off season acquisition Eddie Lacy started Friday’s game with projected starter Thomas Rawls on the sidelines due to a minor ankle injury. Lacy had six carries for 20 yards. Mike Davis and Chris Carson also carried the ball six times and their numbers were decent at best Davis had 37 yards while Carson finished with 27. The top rusher in the game was Alex Collins who finished the game with 58 yards on 10 carries. C. J Prosise sat out the game due to tightness in his groin.

3. Starting left tackle George Fant’s season ending injury will necessitate a quick decision with two remaining preseason games. Fant tore his right ACL in the second quarter and was replaced by right guard Rees Odhiambo. The question is whether Odhiambo will replace Fant on a permanent basis or will Luke Joeckel move from right guard to left tackle. Joeckel played three seasons at left tackle while for Jacksonville. One of the reasons the Seahawks signed Joeckel was his ability to play left guard and left tackle. Undrafted rookie Jordan Roos is another possibility. Roos has an impressive camp; the question is whether the Offensive Line coach Tom Cable has seen enough to start the rookie. With two dress rehearsal games left, the Seahawks will need to make a quick and hopefully a solid decision.
4. Justin Britt answered Michael Bennett’s call for white players to join the protest injustice in the nation by protesting during the singing of the National Anthem. Britt stood next to Bennett with a hand on his teammate’s shoulder.
“I think it was very touching for me, a very emotional moment to have that kind of solidarity from someone like Justin Britt who’s a very known leader in our locker room. Who’s from a different part of America from me, but to be able to have that kind of solidarity and can have somebody who’s behind me and know that somebody that I really trust and to be able to see him put everything on the line to be able to support one of his teammates. I thought that was a very special moment and emotional moment. At least for me, it was very touching and I am very thankful to have somebody in my corner like that and I’m appreciative of him.”
5.Kasen Williams is auditioning for a starting position. The former University for Washington player had one career reception in three years as a pro. In two preseason games William has six receptions for 146 and a touchdown. Williams performance has caught the attention of head coach Pete Carroll.
“He did well on (Special) Teams last week, also. You’re all watching it, and we’re watching it together. He’s competing his tail off and doing some great stuff, so it’s really exciting.”
