
Seattle Seahawks defeat Philadelphia Eagles 26 to 15 with a solid defensive effort and another precision like performance from quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Seattle Seahawks were able to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 26 to 15 Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field with relative ease. Quarterback Russell Wilson had the offense rolling when it needed to produce and the Seattle defense showed its grit and might when it was called on just like the offense.
The one opponent the Seahawks could not defeat on Sunday was the injury bug. The Seahawks lost running backs C. J Prosise (shoulder), Troymaine Pope, Safety Earl Thomas and Linebacker Brock Coyle (foot) during the game. The Seahawks were so depleted at running back, backup quarterback Trevone Boykin had to take a turn at running back for one play at running back in the fourth quarter.
PROMISING START
The Seahawks looked like they had found their long-lost running game when starting tailback C.J. Prosise bolted over the right side of the line for 72 yards on Seattle’s second possession of the game. Despite the missed the extra point by Steven Hauschka Seattle gained momentum, swagger and optimism with the 6-9 lead after just three minutes of play.
Philadelphia took the lead on its next offensive possession when rookie quarterback Carson Wentz hit Tight End Zach Ertz on a six-yard pass play. The Eagles 7-6 lead was quickly erased on the Seahawks next offensive possession when quarterback Russell Wilson found Tight End Jimmy Graham on a 35-yard pass play. Hauschka converted the extra point to give the Seahawks the 13 to 7 lead with 8:30 left in the first half. Philadelphia looked to have taken the lead on its next offensive possession but a 57-yard touchdown pass from Wentz to Ertz was called back due to an illegal formation penalty against the Eagle offense.
The Seattle defense held the Eagles offense and took 16 to 7 halftime lead on a Steven Hauschka 21-yard field goal.
RAZZLE DAZZLE
The Seahawks had their second interception of the game when Richard Sherman intercepted Wentz to add to Kam Chancellors first half pick. The Sherman interception came at a high cost for the Seattle defense as Safety Earl Thomas injured his hamstring on the play.
The Seahawks stretched the lead to 23-7 when Seattle coach Pete Carroll decided to pull out his bag of magic tricks and called for a Russell Wilson to Doug Baldwin to Russell Wilson pass play that ended with Wilson catching the 15-yard pass from Baldwin in the end zone.
Hauschka made one of two field goals to give the Seahawks the 26 to 7 lead and the Eagles found the end zone for the second time when Wentz completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dorial Green-Beckham with 3:46 left in the game. The Eagles two-point conversation failed and the score stood at 26 to 15.

QUARTERBACK PLAYS RUNNING BACK
Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin was called on to play running back in Seattle next offensive possession due to the injuries to Prosise, Pope and Rawls having reached his allocated carries for the game. Boykin’s career at running back at was short lived as his one carry was for minus eight yards. The Seahawks were able to make due with a battered backfield and defense as they secured their fifth straight home victory.
