The Seattle Seahawks offense played a flawless first half, the defense got it’s first turnover of the season and the team overcame an injury scare to Russell Wilson on its way to a dominating 37 to 18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in front of 69,010 elated Seahawks.
It took Seattle just 43 second to break out of it’s scoring slump as Christine Michael darted 41 yards for the Seahawks first running touchdown of the season and just their second overall.
The Seahawks offense held a coming our party of sorts and gave the 12’s reason to believe their long lost offense had found its rhythm when Michael added another rushing TD from from two yards out on the Seahawks next position.
The Seahawks defense surrendered a 22 yard FG and the offense finished the half with a 10-0 run courtesy of a Wilson to Jimmy Graham 18 yard TD pass play and a 33 yard FG by Steve touchdown’s that gave the home side a 24-3 lead at halftime.
The Seahawks injury scare came on their second offensive possession of the second half when 49er linebacker Eli Harold was penalized for a hoarse collar tackle on Wilson.
“He’s in good spirits, just like you would think,” head coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “He has no intention of thinking anything other than that he is playing.
“He was in a bad situation, he knows it, too. He lucked out, that it wasn’t worse. He’ll do an incredible job of rehabbing … and probably the biggest issue is that he’s still rehabbing his ankle, too.
“We’re going to take care of him and work him through the week.”
Boykin engineered two scoring drives in his mop up duty. Bobby Wagner’s interception of a Blaine Gabbert pass led to a 22 yard field goal by Steven Huaschka field goal and Boykin hit Doug Baldwin on a 16 yard pass play on Seattle’s next offensive possession to close out Seattle’s scoring for the day. Baldwin finished the day with eight receptions for 106 yards. Michael finished with the day with 106 rushing yards, his best effort for Seattle since his 192 yards in 2015.
San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde scored two rushing touchdwon’s both from eight yards for the 49ers to close out the game.
