Tenants and advocates will be at Kent Municipal Courthouse Friday morning standing in solidarity with tenants of a South King County trailer park (half of the park is in Auburn and half is in Pacific) who are facing eviction notices for not paying rent for a park that is on the verge of being condemned.
Tenants of this park had been living in squalid conditions for years. Many were instructed to clean their trailer when their lease began and were expected to pick up dirty needles and clear out rat infestations. Several trailers have holes in the ceilings and walls and severe electrical properties.
The owner of the park is also accused of aggressive and intrusive behavior. Tenants report that he regularly enters tenants’ homes without permission, scaring families who have been impacted by domestic violence.
It’s outrageous that tenants who are already shouldered with repairs of the property they live on, are expected to pay rent on a property that is uninhabitable, when insteady the landlord should take responsibility and provide relocation assistance and stop trying to evict tenants.
