Police say a man shot and killed by security guards at an after-hours motorcycle club gathering early Sunday in Tacoma had pointed a gun at them. Officials identified the man killed as Steven Dedeaux Jr.
Tacoma police say the incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when the guards during a pat-down of another man found that he had a weapon.
Police say when they tried to detain the man, Dedeaux came out of the club and demanded they let the man go, drawing his gun.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool says both guards fired after Dedeaux allegedly threatened to shoot the guards and refused to lower his gun. He died at the scene.
Police say a bouncer also was shot in the hand. The guards were not arrested.
