Jake Browning throws for six  touchdown passes as  No.4 Washington Huskies annihilate   California Bears  66-27.

Give the California Golden Bears ( 4-5, 2-4 Pac-12) credit for giving last night’s 66 to 27 loss to the No. 4 University of Washington Huskies ( 9-0, 6-0)  the old college try. The Bears put up a good fight and took an early 3-0 lead and continued to fight the Huskies into the second quarter where  they had a  21-20 lead. It was then that the Huskies decided to stop sulking about being ranked fifth in last Tuesday’s College Football Rankings and decided to control what they can control. That being showing the College Playoff committee how good the Huskies are.

With said focus, Washington reeled off 38 straight points to take a 59 to 20 lead with 12:58 left in the game and leave no doubt they have a prolific offense to complement their stifling defense. Husky quarterback  Jake Browning threw for 378 yards and six touchdowns to set a Washington record for TD passes in a game. Browning now holds the school record for most TD passes in a season at 34. The beneficiaries of  Browning impeccable performance was John Ross and  Dante Pettis . Ross finished the day with six receptions 208 yards and three touchdowns, while Pettis had eight receptions, 204 yards, three touchdowns and a 39 yard TD passes to Darrell Daniels. Washington finished the game with 704 yards on offense .

“We’re banged up on the backend, so Washington got some matchups on guys that weren’t necessarily a great matchup”. Cal head coach Sonny Dykes  said after the game.” There wasn’t much we could do about it. We knew going into the ballgame that we’d play the best players we had available to us. “

California quarterback Davis Webb threw for 262 yards, one touchdown and ran for another to go with three interceptions. The Huskies have now won 12 straight games.  With Texas A &M (7-2) losing 35 to 28 to Mississippi State, Tuesdays nights Week Two College Football rankings should be an interesting topic of discussion. With no guarantee, Washington will move into a top-four position chatter  leading up to next Saturday’s home game with USC will be plenty.
