Many seniors are discouraged from using ridesharing apps like Uber because they do not cater to their needs- they don’t have or want smartphones, they need more assistance than simply being dropped off with little regard. Enter Envoy America, a comprehensive program that offers transportation plus assistance and companionship for seniors and patients. Envoy America’s Driver Companions not only drive their clients to and from their destination, but they also provide assistance at all points along the journey, including meeting clients at the door and helping them to the car, escorting clients into medical offices for appointments, and more. There is no app for scheduling rides, instead, clients call to schedule their ride.
Envoy America is helping seniors to stay independent and live healthy lives. There are many great success stories of clients building relationships with their dedicated Driver Companions (they are able to request the same driver). This is especially important for Driver Companions who work with clients living with some form of dementia (all Driver Companions are trained extensively on how to work with clients living with dementia).
The demand for Envoy America’s Driver Companions has risen in the Seattle/Tacoma-area as word of the service spreads, so much so that they are growing at a rapid rate and looking to hire Driver Companions immediately. They are also hosting a job fair on 6/19 in Seattle to recruit new Driver Companions to meet the growing demand.
I’m including details on the job fair below, but please let me know if you’d like to schedule interviews or speak with any of the Envoy America executives, Driver Companions, or senior citizen clients and I’m happy to help coordinate. There are so many great stories to share! Thanks and have a great day!
