The # 4 ranked University of Washington Huskies ( 7-0 overall, 4-0 Pac 12) methodically dispatched the Oregon State Beavers (2-5 overall, 1-3 Pac 12) 41 to 17 Saturday evening at Husky Stadium. It was a business-like effort for the Huskies who dominated the game from start to finish.
Up next for Washington is a Pac-12 showdown with the # 17/16th Utah Utes (7-1 overall, 4-1 Pac 12 ) Saturday afternoon ( 12:30 p.m. PT) in Salt Lake City,featuring a battle of Conference co-leaders. Utah is tied with Colorado for top spot in the Pac-12’s South Division, while the Huskies are tied with Washington State for the lead in the Pac-12’s North Division. According to husky head coach Chris Petersen the Utes will provide the Huskies with their toughest test to date.
GAME NOTES
* ESPN’s College GameDay will be on hand to televise the game to a national audience.
* This is the second-straight year that Utah has hosted ESPN College GameDay and its fourth time ever. The Utes are 2-1 when hosting GameDay, beating BYU in 2004, losing to TCU in 2010 and beating California in 2015.
* Saturday’s game marks the first time junior quarterback Troy Williams has faced his old team. Williams signed with Washington in 2013 as the No. 1 dual threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com.
* UW leads the nation in fumbles recoveries (12) and turnover margin (+2.00 per game) and are second in fewest interceptions (2), team pass efficiency (200.54) and fewest turnovers (5)
* UW is also fourth in scoring offense and sixth in scoring defense (one of four teams in the nation in the top 10 in both, along with Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State)
