Sedonia Butler

Sedonia Carey Butler, 93, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Her wings arrived, and she flew away peacefully with loved ones by her side. She was born in
Elton, Louisiana. She was “Granny Butler” and “Mrs. B” to many that knew her. Her daughter, Elizabeth Carol Butler, survives Sedonia. Others that survive Sedonia are her sister Mary Harvey and son Bruce Booker, grandson Ricky Frazier, Jr., (Cornesha Hall), great grandson Tre’vion Frazier, granddaughter Rickiya Frazier and other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion
Butler and daughter Sidonie (Cindy) Lynn Butler. All who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman will greatly miss her.
In Loving Memory of Jessie James Harris
Jessie James Harris passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the VA Hospital. He was born in Gallion, Louisiana on November 13th, 1925 to Beatrice Wilson and Jessie Harris, Sr. He honorably served in the Military (Navy) during World War II. After leaving the military he worked many years in construction and then went on to work for the US Postal Service, where he retired in 1992, after 30 years.
He was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved. He was a loving devoted husband, father & grand-father. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and road with Alky Angels. Although Papa has passed on to be with the Lord, he will always be with us and watching over us.
Jessie is survived by his wife Della, and four children Jarrell (Brenda) Lewis, Demetrice “Meachy” Lewis, Terrence (Heidi) Lewis, Sr., and LaJuana Lewis. Ten grandchildren; Lisaa (Undray), Terrence, Jr., Tyrell, Essence, Najarel, Ajhana, LaJhaya, Destiny, Hedia and Jayden and six great-grandchildren; Aariyel, Sir Marius, JeLynn, Lynkoln, Jaxxon & Alanaa
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings Jessie Harris, Jr and Mary Louise Harris.
Visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Unity COGIC 8302 Renton Ave S Seattle, WA 98118. A private family burial will be at held at Tahoma National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life Patricia Lorene Gratton
Patricia Lorene Gratton was born in Ellensburg, Washington to the late James and Dorothy Gratton on May 30, 1941. She passed on May 26, 2019 in Seattle, Washington. She was a member of the Garfield High School Class of 1960. Miss Gratton professional career spanned over four decades. She excelled as an aerospace quality assurance inspector for the Boeing Company. She retired in the year 2000.
Miss Gratton is survived by her only son Professor Jerome Proctor of South Dakota; and her only grandson Roman Proctor of Marysville, Washington; 2 brothers; James Gratton (Margaret) of Federal Way, Washington; and Gerald Gratton (Donna) of Shoreline, Washington; 5 Sisters; Gladys Nash of Yakima, Washington; Sally Jackson (Donald) of Federal Way, Washington; Nancy Gratton of Renton, Washington; Peggy Gratton of Seattle, Washington; Brenda Milas of Yakima, Washington; and dearest close friend Til Lucien of Burien, Washington. A host of friends, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She will be greatly missed by all.

In Loving Memory of Inez Jones Maddox
Inez Jones Maddox was born to the late Irene Johnson-Jones and George L. Jones on May 14, 1937 in Hazelhurst, Georgia. She was the eldest of 5 children.
Inez attended school in Hazelhurst and graduated from Henry McNeil Turner High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon completing high school, Inez married and from this union she was blessed with 1 daughter, Diane Withers.
In Atlanta, Inez was employed at F.W. Woolworth’s Company, Scripto Pen Company, and Shirley’s of Atlanta. She moved to Seattle, WA during the 1960’s. Her passion was cooking and she became an entrepreneur when she opened her restaurant Inez’s Kitchen located in the heart of the Central Area on 14th & Jefferson. For many years it was a well-known soul food restaurant in the community.
Inez gained her wings on May 3, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Diane Withers and brother, George Jones Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory 1 granddaughter Deanna Paulita Lee of Seattle, WA; 2 great grandsons, Jabari Andrews Jr. and Jahmal Withers, Seattle, WA; 3 sisters in Atlanta, Georgia, and her longtime love, Lee Catching, Seattle, WA.

In Loving Memory Of Jimmie Turner
Jimmie, age 85, formerly of Bowie County, TX. passed away on March 16, 2019 at his home in Seattle, WA. He was the youngest of eight children. Over the next 60 years Jimmie went on to become a proud funeral home owner, popular notary public within the Seattle area, as well as holding well respected positions within the United States Army, Proctor and Gamble, and the Boeing company from which he eventually retired. Jimmie received numerous awards of distinction for excellence in punctuality, attendance, and customer service. Known for his love of Jesus and recognizing the importance of outreach, Jimmie could be found on many days supporting community and world-wide causes, driving seniors around the city, and leading bible study at his church Mount Zion Baptist and later New Beginnings Christian Fellowship church where he could be seen standing front and center wearing his deacon hat proudly. Jimmie loved family, golf, and travel which
took him to places including: Europe, Jamaica, and many cities across the U.S. throughout his lifetime. His compassion and love for people is what encouraged him to always lend a helping hand to his fellow brothers and sisters.
On June 16, 1995 Jimmie married his sweetheart Willie Mae of Gurdon, AR. These two shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and fun times with family. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmie Turner and Eula Lee Archie; brothers: Hughes Turner, John C. Turner, and Agusta Turner. Sisters: Suzie Turner, Nadean Turner, Angelean Turner. Jimmie is survived by his wife Willie Mae Turner of Seattle, WA; children: Kevin Turner (Stephanie) of Ore City, TX; Erica Turner-Johnson (Cedrick) of Jefferson, TX. Step-daughter Swannee Bruner (James) of Seattle, WA. Sister; Ann Standoak of Dallas, TX. Numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and “adopted family,” that held a special place in his heart also survive him,
In Loving Memory of Frank Fields, Jr.
Frank Fields, Jr. of Seattle and Oklahoma City passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 28, 2019, at age 88, in his home in Renton, Washington.
Known for his friendly, open manner and giant smile, Frank was born in Osceola, Arkansas on February 4, 1930 as the only child to the union of Ophelia Willis and Frank Fields, Sr. He lived in Osceola with his aunt and uncle, whom he fondly called “Aunt Tinny” and “Uncle Britches” until he went to the Woodstock Training School in Memphis, Tennessee. As a high schooler, he came to Seattle to be with his mother and graduated from Garfield High School.
After high school, he joined the Merchant Marines and traveled the world for several years before returning to Seattle and taking a job as a meter reader for the Seattle Water Department in 1953. This proved to be an important job, as Frank created a career at the Water Department. He remained there, rising through various positions until he retired in 1983 as the Director for Customer Service.
While working at the Water Department, Frank discovered golf. He played golf with a passion until he was no longer able. He was active in the Fir State Golf Club, (the first African American golf
club in Seattle), the Eastside Golf Club and the Eastern Golf Club (OK).
He married Joyce Dugat in 1951 and they had two children, Frank Michael, and Michelle Marie.
In 1973, Frank married Lilliantyne (Tyna) Hooks and became stepfather to her two children, Laneyse and Quinton Hooks. Frank and Tyna celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July 2018.
He was a member of First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Seattle and Avery AME in Oklahoma City. Frank will be remembered for his love of golf and playing chess with his friend Morris Byrd.
Surviving family include his spouse, Tyna; son, Frank Michael; daughter, Michelle; granddaughter, La’Shelle Chandler, her husband, Mike Chandler and grandson, Benjamin; stepchildren, Quinton and Laneyse Hooks and her husband Richard Marchi; cousin, Marion Winbush; nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at First AME Church, 1522 14th Avenue, Seattle. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6 at First AME from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Remembering Che’ Taylor on his 49th Birthday
Please join us for a memorial birthday celebration at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, located at 100 Blaine Avenue NE Renton, WA 98056 on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12pm. We will meet at the Claim Jumper Restaurant, located 5901 S. 180th St, Tukwila, WA 98188 from 1:30pm – 4pm.
Che’ Andre Taylor, affectionately known as “Che’ T” was loved by many. He was sharp beyond measure and a class all by himself. He was larger than life and left an indelible mark on everyone he crossed paths with. The people who knew him are grateful to have experienced his spirit and love. As the 3rd anniversary of his passing approaches, we finally have some hope that his death was not in vain. Justice for Che’ T is served in the form of a new Police Accountability law in Washington State. This new law will set the precedent for Police Accountability across the entire nation and prevent countless other fatalities at the hands of law enforcement. We miss Che’ tremendously and all the joy he brought to our lives. His memory and infectious smile will forever be in our hearts.

Celebrating The Life Of Dr. Edna Travis
Dr. Travis co-founded New Covenant Pentecostal Tabernacle in Tacoma, Washington, more than 40 years ago, and she has also initiated numerous outreach ministries. New Covenant’s “Feeding Program” has been serving a hot evening meal every day since March 1985. In addition, Dr. Travis maintains monthly ministries at McNeil Island Correction Center, Orchard Park Health Care Center, and Tacoma Rescue Mission. Her radio ministry, “The Midnight Cry Messenger,” was heard for three years on KBLE and then for two years on KLAY. She was Vice President of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Association, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, for 17 years.
Dr. Travis has also trained many men and women of God in ministry. Although passed at 91 years of age, she remains active visiting people who are sick or shut-in, as well as holding prayer meetings and Bible study sessions until the Lord called her home. Her faith, perseverance, and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ was served as an example to others. Her ultimate objective was to make known to this generation the power of God.
